My Morning Coffee with SeriousMilk! TCHO Chocolate to the rescue!

14 Jul

If you have not had TCHO Chocolate yet.. then you are truly missing out!

If you live in the Bay Area and have not encountered this chocolatier yet… well… then, I’m just confused!

IF you have not had TCHO’s Mokaccino bar yet… then you are seriously doing yourself a disservice!

I first learned about TCHO Chocolate in La Jolla Whole Foods while we still lived in the San Diego area.Β  At that time, they were only offering their deliciously perfected Dark Chocolate… in which they work with the Cacao bean itself to create a pure, unadulterated flavor that highlights the origin of the bean! Mmmmm….

Then, they did a Milk Chocolate Beta Testing campaign… I was SO IN!
Very fun helping taste, compare, and rate the different Milks that they were putting together.
Mmmm… πŸ™‚

Recently, I found myself cruising the Chocolate Aisle at Whole Foods as, I am want to do! πŸ˜‰
And I see it… a NEW Chocolate Bar from TCHO… a Chocolate and Coffee Bar!
Since I knew Blue Bottle Coffee was nummy (I’ve had gelato made with it), I knew I just had to have that bar!

Fast forward to next morning… as I take a bite out of my new chocolate bar (as I’m want to do in the morning!) and BOOM! I knew I was correct… I. Had. To. Have. This. Bar!!!

Sooo…. If you find yourself hankerin’ for a Chocolate Bar consider TCHO Chocolate and ENJOY!
You might have a had time finding the Mokaccino bar though… as I’m on the hunt now!
“Serious Milk Chocolate + Blue Bottle Coffee” = YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lastly, if you want to take a tour of How TCHO Chocolate is made… they Do that!! WOW!

The Cervix Whisperer : “Taste the Rainbow”!

15 Jun

When I shared with hubby that I had found the perfect Childbirth Educator for us and told him her website address… being the amateur comedian that he is, he promptly asked, “Is she going to whisper ‘Taste the Rainbow’ to your cervix!?” HA!

Turns out Patty, The Cervix Whisperer, is sooooo freaking great and funny, that she may actually do just that if you asked her nicely… though she will certainly throw back her head, flip her long signature hair, and laugh an infectious laugh!!

I was referred to Patty by our Birth Doula, Melissa from Stork & Sprout, and when I spoke to her on the phone, I realized she had the perfect mix of experience and hippy that I was looking for! (After all, at the time, she lived in Santa Cruz!)
She has more that 25yrs birth/baby experience and adds her special blend of holistic birthing tools…
aromatherapy, ‘mood’ lighting, yoga balling, even a hair comb!?!?!?

Patty has also, on occasion, offered doula services… though typically she keeps herself busy with Childbirth Classes at Sequoia Hospital and Pre/Post Natal Fitness classes at The Reading Bug! She even takes time to reach out to her new mamas a number of times during postpartum!

If you are looking for a top-notch, approachable, and fun Childbirth Educator… then look no further than The Cervix Whisperer… you will certainly be in good hands!

Yes, this post was short and sweet…
Just like all future mama’s hope their labor will be!

Daddy got a bonus! Baby got some toys! : CitrusLane May’13 Review

23 May

Daddy LOVES baby!! And he loves toys (how many guitars does one guy need!?!?), but really, his toy obsession has switched to baby toys (how many toys does one baby need!?!?) .
We knew a bonus was on the horizon… I started looking into the monthly subscription by Citrus Lane, hoping that we’d get fun, development toys… so that Daddy and Baby would be happy little campers!

Yes! Turns out this is a freaking awesome company… age-appropriate goodies (toys, food, etc.) for babies (and sometimes items for mommies too!) delivered right to our front door monthly!
They are a local company and I knew this was something I’d want to support and, Hey, It’s so fun to be surprised with goodies every month!

May 2013 was our first delivery… and my hopes were solidified, this truly is a great service!

Here’s a look inside Citrus Lane’s May 2013 box :

~ A Green Toys Stacker :
Um, yeah, baby loves this toy… I mean, LOVES, this toy!
He immediately reaches for it, when it’s play time ,and will crawl around the room holding onto a nesting piece in each hand!
The Stacker has fun colors, stacks in any configuration, and is safe (no center post), and eco-friendly (recycled and BPA/phthalate free).
Green Toys is, also, a local company… located in San Francisco!

~ “Bear Takes a Trip” Board book :
Cute little book and story… has a little ‘lesson’ for telling time!
These books by Barefoot Books seem pretty popular.

~ Happy Munchies Rice Cakes :
These are indicated for baby’s age… and I did let him try some finger food this week… but he wasn’t completely ready for these. However, this in no way discourages me from trying these, again, in the future.
Firstly, I know they are yummy, because I just had to give them a try… mmm! We had Blueberry/Beet in our box.
Secondly, baby is ‘getting there’ with his solid finger foods… so these will be a great on the go snack, and we got some coupons to buy more!

~ Dish Liquid from Dapple :
We got a Travel Size of this stuff… I’d been curious about this line since I ran across it while pregnant… nice that I’ll be able to give it a try now!

~ Moisture Stick from DeepSteep :
For the Mommy!! It was Mother’s Day this month, after all! πŸ™‚ This stuff is freaking awesome!
Smells yummy, I got Lavender-Chamomile scent, made with coconut oil, beeswax, shea butter, herbs, and other good stuff. It comes in a big twisty tube and can be applied to any skin area as needed.
What I like about it is that, as a mommy, I am constantly washing my hands and holding/feeding/playing with baby. Sometimes I really want some moisture on my hands, but I don’t want my fingers all goopy… well, with this stick, I just have to rub the good stuff over the backs of my hands and go!
I am drooling over the idea of the Brown Sugar-VanillaΒ  scent.

Soooo… All in All!!! Great Box, Great Service! πŸ™‚
If I were to have purchased all these items on my own I’d have spent close to $35, not including shipping & tax.
But I had it delivered, shipping included, for much less and I got introduced to some new products and received coupons and discount codes!

Hoping June’s Box will include something for Daddy… being Father’s Day that month! Yippy!

Big City Moms Biggest Baby Shower! WOW… “Soooo Big!”

1 May

Already grandmothered in to the NYC & LA baby scenes… Big City Mom’s delivered theirΒ  Biggest Baby Shower to San Fransisco (SFO) on April 25th.

Their special brand of baby shower is truly a wonderful and helpful event for parents-to-be and parents with just-borns… AND good info (exhibitors and seminars) for parents with few month olds.

We knew we’d have our 6mth old in tow, so we opted for the Couple Super Pass, this would give us an extra 30mins at the beginning of the event before the larger crowd showed up AND we’d get a Free Britax Baby Carrier!

Really great exhibitors, that I’d been wanting to see in-person, were there!
Strollers, Play-yards, Baby Carriers, Highchairs, Baby Sitting Services, Baby Foods, and more!

Did you know Bugaboo just started an Andy Warhol Collection!? Beautiful!
Our little dude is an OrbitBaby himself (YES! They were there too!)… but seeing that Bugaboo collection in-person was quite tempting!

With Baby at the age to start eating solids, I was given tons of samples and tips from the awesome baby food companies on-hand…
Ella’s Kitchen, Plum Organics, Happy Baby and more.
Though I’ve been making baby food at home, it’s nice to have options for traveling, out & about, or a quick go-to…
I look forward to trying out these samples with baby!
THANK YOU awesome baby-food companies!

One of my favorite parts of the evening was getting to meet Dr. Alan Greene!!
He was on hand to give a seminar about baby feeding… So Interesting!
He loves babies and has learned tons about babies AND good, green food choices for babies!
He and his wife, graciously, let me and my baby sit down with them for a few minutes before his presentation to inquire about a couple things that had been concerning me. So Nice of them!
He’s a wonderfully, engaging speaker and has so much important insight… I highly recommend checking out his website and Facebook page… and attending a lecture if he’s gonna be in your area!!

We had to say Howdy to DaddyScrubs
’cause the hubs was a DaddyScrub wearin’ papa at the hospital!

I got to say THANKS for a great e-newsletter/blog to RedTricycle! I love them!
They had the cutest Red Flyer Tri in their booth… cute, cute, cute!!

We got to eat yummy catered food! Seriously… yummy catered food! Hmm πŸ˜‰

Plus, we took away a BIG haul in goodies!
BIG!
“Soooo Big”, as toddlers would say!
Samples, Samples, and Samples, A diaper bag, a nursing cover, a baby/pregnancy organizer, the Free Britax baby carrier, a car baby mirror, a Sage Spoonfuls food-saver cup, teething toys, onesies, lotions and potions, and much more!

Is it obvious yetl!?
The Biggest Baby Shower far exceeded our expectations!
If you have an event near you… we recommend you give it a go!

I’ll leave you with a series of photobooth pics we took of our wee family…Β  thanks to Pix C Booth!

Eatin’ Out : Bacon Bacon SF, Food Truck

11 Feb

BACON Bacon!! I was a lucky girl on Wednesday… I got my Valentine’s Boutique early! πŸ™‚ With a Bacon Boutique of 5 crispy pieces of glorious bacon for Lunch! Hee hee!
I know… not a ‘good for you lunch’… but it was, indeed, GOOD, I’m telling you! πŸ™‚

We headed out to Redwood Shores in the search of the elusive Naked Chorizo Filipino Food Truck… spent 5mins driving around looking for it…Β  Finally we asked someone where ‘the food truck’ is… when we got to the point, there WAS a food truck but it was not the one Dano was so hoping for 😦
Nevertheless, as a bacon loving wifey (also paying for lunch that day), I pulled rank… and he had pulled pork… hee hee!!

We had a wonderfully bacony lunch!

Me = Bacon Boutique, as I mentioned
Dano = Triple B Tacos (Trio of Bacon and other pork meat, Belly & Butte)
Shared = Fries (YUM!)
No Veg, oops!
But No Soda either, just gallons of Water! HA! πŸ™‚

Check out BACON BACON SF‘s website and see when they are going to be in a Bay Area location near you! Worth the visit at least once! πŸ™‚

Adventurin’ : Comedy Sketchfest Nightlife, Cal Acad of Sciences

27 Jan

Every Thursday Night the California Academy of Sciences hosts NightLife…Β  a Themed night of fun, exploring, great music, wonderful food & drinks… just for the 21+ set! πŸ™‚
It is a only a $12 entry fee ($10 for members)!!
Of course, you can amp it up and get the VIP tickets at only $59 – then by-pass the lines, get a 1hr private tour, and passes for the ‘big’ events!

Dano and I (and a group of our Super Cool meet-up friends)Β  attended for the first time in conjunction with SF Sketchfest… apparently, this was a VERY popular theme and all passes to Greg Proops’ podcast & the Tom Lennon/Ben Garant panel were taken by the time we got in the building…Β Β  ah pooey!

Nevertheless, we made a great night of it and it turned out AWESOME!! πŸ™‚

~ We listened to a few comedians on the Stand Up! Stage.
~ We had freaking awesome food in the Cafe, with great dietary options…
so look forward to hitting The Moss Room restaurant in the future!
~ We caught a glimpse of an albino alligator named Claude… COOOOOL! πŸ™‚
~ We watched the Convoy Improv Troupe from LA.
~ We Met Ben Garant!!! Nice & Sincere guy! πŸ™‚ (and saw Tom Lennon)

So, in all, our night turned out wonderfully! πŸ™‚

I look forward to future NightLife nights!

I also got a great pic of a quote by scientist, Wallace Broecker :
“Climate is an angry beast and we are poking at it with sticks”

Adventurin’ : Chinatown Ghost Tour

29 Dec

During the short stint of Facebook Deals, I was able to grab this great deal to head out for a Chinatown Ghost Tour!
Dano was so excited! We added it into our events for the Halloween month of October!

The tour starts out at Four Seas Restaurant on Grant Ave… Our Tour guide was Ruby… she was super-duper great, really funny, and very informative!

Not only did we learn about the areas of Chinatown that are meant to have activity and why, but we received a wonderful historical tour as well!
Most fun, was that we were deep in Chinatown (with a guide) on a late Saturday night… this gave us such a fascinating view of ‘true’ Chinatown!!! The hidden secrets of what games take place in the alleys and special events in the parks!

So amazing were the bricks used in the buildings! After the time of the earthquake and big fire… there was not enough money or material around to completely rebuild from scratch… and there were remaining bricks that were still OK to use, but were just a little fire damaged… well, basically MELTED, but still in ‘brick shape’… so they reused these beautiful melted bricks… this gives the buildings such a delicious and characteristic facade!!!

Though we had our ghost investigating equipment… we did not get much activity… or rather we got a TON of EMF activity… Dano’s meter was constantly at the high end (in the red)…Β  though it just seems that there is a great deal of truly electrical energy running though Chinatown.

One point to note… while Ruby was talking about her late-mother in an alley way that housed a beauty salon, in which a photo of Ruby’s mother in a Beauty Pageant hung, my EMF meter flicked back and forth numerous times!!

Afterwards, we were treated to a fun, little magic show!

It’s a fun tour… worth a visit!
